We are excited to share the launch of a new NIHR-funded Blood and Transplant Research Unit (BTRU) directed by Professor Peter Simmonds. The unit, named Genomics to Enhance Microbiology Screening (GEMS), strives to evaluate the risk of, and provide solutions for, the transmission of potentially harmful microbes in donated blood samples.
