Anna McNaughton
PhD
Postdoctoral Scientist
I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Matthews Group working on hepatitis B virus (HBV), with a focus on populations in Southern Africa. I am working on the development of deep sequencing pipelines for whole genome sequencing of HBV, using both Illumina and Nanopore platforms.
My research interests span a number of fields including the development of viral sequencing methods, blood-borne viral infections, pathogen transmission, viral diversity and evolution, as well as international health and infectious disease epidemiology.
Prior to working at Oxford, I studied at the University of Bristol, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and I undertook my PhD studies on hepatitis C virus (HCV) at the MRC Centre for Virus Research at the University of Glasgow.
