Callum Beck
Postgraduate student
As an undergraduate, Callum studied MChem Chemistry at St Edmund Hall, Oxford. His Part II research project was a collaboration between the Aarts group (PTCL) and Frater group (NDM) on developing the current microfluidic pathway to characterise the HIV-1 latent reservoir by investigating using isothermal DNA amplification techniques to reduce coalescence of droplets.
After graduating with a first-class degree, he has started a DPhil in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at Hertford College and continues working on this collaboration, now with a focus on the use of hydrogels to trap DNA lysed from cells.
