I started working in the Barnes group in 2014 after working in NHS research approvals and a stint running a beach bar In Egypt. Before starting my DPhil I worked on the viral hepatitis theme of the NIHR Health Informatics Collaborative, which is a project to use electronic patient record data from five NIHR Biomedical Research Centre to facilitate clinical research into viral hepatitis.
I started a DPhil in 2015, I am using next generation sequencing and HCV cell culture models to study antiviral resistance to Hepatitis C Infection. The focus of my project is on genotype 3 HCV Infection, which is the second most common genotype in the UK and is emerging as the hardest HCV genotype to treat.
