Embedded within the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, our MSc course is a full time one-year multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary programme examining major challenges to the health of populations in resource-limited contexts. The MSc provides candidates with a foundation in qualitative and quantitative methods, health economics, and policy analysis with an integrative problem-based curriculum, and includes training in teamwork and communication and a funded eight-week placement with a global health project in a resource-limited setting.  We expect our students to be future leaders in global health, either in governments, non-governmental organisations and/or academic institutions. Over five years, the MSc has benefited from the contribution of 102 students from 46 different countries with disciplinary backgrounds ranging from anthropology to engineering to microbiology and medicine.

The IITM DPhil programme provides integrated training in infection and immunology, and how fundamental research can be translated into benefits for human health. The course provides outstanding opportunities for research in basic mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of infectious diseases, immune and inflammatory responses to infection, and the development of drugs and vaccines. The first year comprises three laboratory rotations in different disciplines, and access to extensive training courses and support. There is then a three-year period to undertake research towards your DPhil.
